Protection Plan

The East Carter County R-II School District offers each family the opportunity to voluntarily purchase a device protection plan for Chromebooks issued to students as part of the 1to1 Device Program. This protection plan protects the Chromebook against accidental damage, theft, fire, flood, and other natural disasters. This protection plan provides replacement cost coverage and protects the device on and off school grounds.

The device protection plan requires that the Chromebook must remain in the protective case at all times. If the device is removed from the protective case, the protection plan is rendered null and void and the family will assume responsibility for the full cost of the repair or replacement of the Chromebook.

The protection plan is designed to offset the costs of the device repairs or replacement.

Program Premium/Coverage

Limit of liability: $300 per incident

Non-refundable premium: $20

Co-pay: $0 first incident, $10 second incident, $20 third incident (full cost of repair after the third incident for each incident thereafter per school year)

Co-pay's must be paid before the Chromebook will be returned to the student after being repaired or replaced.

Fees Without Protection Plan

Chromebook: $200

AC Adapter: $30

Screen: $25

Case: $50

Total Loss: $300

Note: Replacement of the Chromebook will include the Chromebook ($200)

Effective Coverage and Expiration Date

Effective Date: Date of full protection plan payment

Expiration Date: End of the current school year or date of equipment return and un-enrollment

Protection Plan Coverage

Accidental Damage: Covers accidental damages caused by liquid spills, drops, or any other unintentional event

Theft: Covers for loss due to theft; the claim must be accompanied by an official police report

Fire: Covers damages due to fire; the claim must be accompanied by an official fire report

Electrical Surge: Covers damages to the device due to an electrical surge

Natural Disaster: Covers damages caused by natural disasters

Exclusions

Dishonest, fraudulent, intentional, negligent (not stored in secure manner, or location) or criminal

Consumables: AC adapter ($25), and protective case ($30)

Cosmetic damage that does not affect the functionality of the device; this includes, but is not limited to scratches

The District is not liable for any loss or damage (including accidental, consequential, or punitive damages)
