The Mission of the guidance and counseling department is to address the needs of all students through the guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support services, so that they may acquire competencies in knowledge of self and others, career exploration and planning, and educational-vocational development. look at colleges, financial help, career opportunities, and other
interesting
tidbits which may help you make informed decisions about your future. Financial Aid: Three Rivers Community College will be on campus Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. to assist parents and students on how to fill out the FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Financial Aid) correctly. Letters will go out from the counselor's office the first week of January explaining the items necessary to complete this training. Please be in attendance and RSVP to the guidance office if you plan on attending. Important FAFSA Change for 2008-2009: For the 2008-2009 school year, paper FAFSAs will not be available for bulk. Students will be able to obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-Aid (1-800-433-3243). Students may request up to three copies of the paper application and should receive their FAFSA in three to seven business days. Students and parents are encouraged to apply on-line at www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov for assistance with filing the FAFSA. Scholarships for 2007-2008: 2008 Sam Walton Community Scholarship is available through www.walmartfoundation.org. Deadline for entry is postmark January 14, 2008. Dr. Darrell "Jack" Holley Music Scholarship. Deadline is February 15, 2008. See the counselor for more details. COLSA (Central Ozarks Legal Secretaries Association) scholarsip is available. Deadline is February 13, 2008. See the counselor for applications. Scholarship applications can be picked up in the counselor's office for students who wish to attend Three Rivers Community College next year. |
