Significant Scavenger Hunts

ETIPs - Where teachers learn to help students successfully "surf" their way to a brighter future!

Objective: Teachers will learn to effectively manage internet assignments, informative searches; and to implement meaningful standard based scavenger hunts for instruction and student assessment.

Workshop Description:  This workshop is designed to provide teachers with the necessary skills to successfully create classroom internet assignments. Teachers will participate in intelligent internet searches and create a scavenger hunt to use as an instructional tool, or as student assessment.

Creating Scavenger Hunts
Scavenger Hunts can be good starting points to help students practice information seeking skills. But a Scavenger Hunt can have a focus and go beyond collecting "nuggets" of information. You can use it to "stake out" the topic, before engaging in its study , or to reinforce a topic or person, you can even use them for assessments.  Another great idea is to have the students create the questions for the scavenger hunt.
